I have the OPERA Next in my lower task bar,would really like to put the RED OPERA 20 there. Is there no option to add to task bar?

Just install it and on "options" check the option to add a shortcut on the taskbar.

You're thinking in terms of a user starting out with a particular experimental version, updating it when it moves to its 'Next' semi-stable stage, then updating it again to its "final stable release" stage, keeping the same version number throughout. However, most users want to update Opera within a certain stage of browser development, regardless of version number, to keep the same mix of experimental or stability aspects. There's nothing "dumb" about it, it's just a deeper perspective on the updating process. If you only ever used Presto Opera in its final "auto-update" form, it worked the same way - you probably only ever saw the final-stage versions, and 'updating' bumped the version numbers then, just as now.

Depending on how close you want to browse near the cutting edge, you can actually choose to use any or all the three stages of Opera browser at the same time on your system: developmental, Next, or final-released, all with different version numbers. Just realize that their updating is done within each stage of development, not along version-number lines. As far as having multiple Operas to choose from, I have a WinXP with 7 versions of Old Opera installed on it, along with Firefox, and IE. There's no rule saying you should only have one of any kind of program, unless the software itself forbids it.

Each stream (Developer, Next and Stable) has its own profile folder and you can only update within each stream.
