I read the quote (and so much of it was a rant, and angry, and wild, and unfocused), that I was reacting to some of the language after the "export" line, about Opera not caring about bookmarks. Also, I have been absorbed with the issue of importing bookmarks into Opera -- all the questions I get relate to that -- and that's what I was thinking about, so sorry there. Opera 20 just added the personal bookmarks bar, so they're making advances. A bookmark manager to export and import is desirable. On exporting Opera would need to make it possible for us to move the Opera 20 bookmarks, probably as HTML. It doesn't sound like it would be that difficult (but I'm not a software developer), and clearly Opera has its hands filled right now. So, the exporting issue is a good reason to have Opera 12 as a backup with all of its bookmarks.

What do you totally agree with? That statement of atyp1. But surely you must know that you can import bookmarks into Opera 20 from Opera 12. Go to Menu/More Tools, and Click on Bookmark importer. And be sure to put a check in Settings/Bookmarks Show the Bookmarks bar. With that being said there's more possibilities for creating bookmarks and having a large number of them in Opera 20 than in any other browser on the internet -- whether in the Speed Dial (with folders), the Personal Bookmarks Bar, the Bookmarks Manager Extensions, or in Stash, etc.

That (quoted) person was asking if it was possible to 'Export' bookmarks 'from' the new version of opera, as there does not seem to be an option to do so.

It's that right now I have my Speed Dial set to a max of 3 columns. And right now it's only Wikipedia and the block with the big + sign in there ... oriented to the left. So, it's beginning to bug me more and more that it's unbalanced. I need to add a bookmark there to fill that empty slot at the right.

So, I might have to bring the Opera Forums bookmark from the Bookmarks Bar and slap it into that unbalanced empty slot and put something else up in the Bookmarks Bar.

You're not a geek if you have only 282 bookmarks You're more like me. Lol, I probably have less. You can still do good things with the Speed Dial, but that's like setting up your home. Make it not over-cluttered, and have nice artsy backgrounds that you change every now and then, and all of that adds to one's liking and comfort level for the Browser. If it looks great, I can forgive having to make a few adjustments for features not yet there. My view on the Speed Dial, is that Opera -- by early on making it the proposed vehicle for almost ALL bookmarks -- encouraged some people to use it in a way that made them unhappy with it -- an over-cluttered monstrosity, even a bit slow to get going, when you open the browser, because there so much in cache that has to load up. One doesn't want "ugly" for the home page. I would say, display only your most often used sites, and have fun with it. Make sure the page looks good -- makes you happy. I don't have that much in Stash either (10 or 15 items), but it's great for some threads you want to find quickly from this forum, or extensions in the Opera or Chrome store you want to take a second look at later on. I'm thinking about making better use of it. Notwithstanding that jabs at Stash that some make, it's still a plus.

I finally decided to take the Geek Test and find out for certain how many bookmarks I have. My estimate was in the correct range. I turned out to have 282 bookmarks in only 12 Main Folders ... 4 Level One Sub Folders ... and 8 Level Two Sub Folders. The 12 Main Folders are hidden there at the right side as I have 10 bookmarks on the actual Bookmarks Bar.

Once a couple of you guys clued me into the secrets of the Boomarks Bar and how to maximize its use, I am now officially all set ... and without even having to utilize the Stash and the Speed Dial. I was surprised at how quickly I got used to the hang of the organization, flow and functionality of the Bookmarks Bar. I had been betting that I more likely wouldn't like it. I actually like it now.

Of course, I just happen to have had the good fortune that I was able to make do with just the Bookmarks Bar without skipping a beat. That's not to say that others who have more bookmarks and a different organizational layout scheme could also make do with just the Bookmarks Bar.

That is not true. Opera 20 permits tons of Bookmarks -- in the Speed Dial, the Bookmarks toolbar, a Bookmarks extension, like Chrookmarks, Tidy Bookmarks, simple bookmarks etc., and even in Stash.

You can import bookmarks from Opera 12 to Opera 20. Go to Menu, More Tools, and Bookmark importer.

So don't repeat things that are definitely misstatements, and that might confuse or demoralize others (about using Opera). It's not right, or fair. You know what Mark Twain said: "A lie can travel halfway around the world while the truth is still putting on its shoes”

Thousands upon thousands of bookmarks is ridiculous
The only ridiculous guy here is you. You have no idea what these links are. If you ever worked with online manuals you would know that bookmarked links can rapidly grow. Even all people around me (colleges, family etc) use bookmarks heavily. But UI see, we are all soooooo 1990s...

That very reasoning is one of the main reasons why Opera never gained much usage even during its heyday.
No the major reason is and was, that Opera had major issues every time it released a new major version. While the last major release of Opera 15 had the most devastating effects on its reputation.

And here is my final question to all those silly guys which do like the new Opera: Why should anyone use a featureless copy of Chromium if anyone can use Chrome, Firefox or MS IE?

I want my old Opera features back (tab stacks, editable keyboard short cuts and B O O K M A R K S). Without these features I can use everything else than Opera. Period.

I like the new opera now that I have become accustomed to many of the changes. However, I do like my bookmarks and I do get tired of the likes of Leushino telling me to either get used to not having them, that I am ridiculous for wanting them or just f off to another browser. Arrogant is him.

He didn't say that. He said get used to it for now or use another browser. He, like most of us, assumes it will be improved. But those who insists they can't really live with this, would change to a browser that meets their needs.

The people he tells to F off are the demanding whiners.

I like the new Opera browser more than Presto due to site compatibility, fixed print issues and actual copy of text with all the formatting and links into other docs (like ODF). It was annoying having to jump to Firefox due to Presto deficiencies. However, I agree that Opera bookmarks leave a lot to be desired.
