I've set Opera to be the default browser both in opera:config and in Preference, Advanced, Programs. Yet still Chrome is launched when I click some links in email messages (usually with lots of content even though I have it set in Operamail to read in Plain Text). Ironically links sent by opera.com only launch in the latest Chrome. What gives? Am I crazy? Do I have to remove all other browsers from this computer for Opera to be the sole browser to launch? Not that that is very useful as a few sites, like video of course, won't even come close to functioning with 12.16.

... I downloaded the 12.18 version and will try that a little later. Does anyone know when it came out? And what improvements you notice? Don't suppose you can play videos with it....

12.18 appeared in mid-February 2016. Its changes consisted solely of additions and updates to the security protocols and encryption suites used by Presto Opera for https communications, which improved browser compliance with some newer website certificates. Otherwise it is just like version 12.17.

If I had solved it I would have updated the original post. Cleared the cookies to no avail. I downloaded the 12.18 version and will try that a little later. Does anyone know when it came out? You have a problem - maybe someone else has a similar one?
You posted it. You snapped your fingers and said oops - well, you might post the solution, whatever it is.
