I bought a Toshiba Smart TV that came loaded with this useless software. I cannot download Netflix or Amazon and the apps they have available are for people that don't know what internet is. I am trying to get rid of this or return the tv and get a samsung.

What can I say... SMART TV !! Mmmm my old zx81 back in the day did more useful stuff... Yes I can get YouTube but everything else is utter garbage!!! Honestly tell me what useful stuff it can do! It's like sky TVs lots of channels but nothing really of use... Can't even install iptv on it or Kodi !! The web browser is Rubbish... Is all this going to change with an update?? Hope do but prob not... If not then all I can say is if your going to buy a smart tv at least buy a SMART TV .... One that's android based so you can actually get something of use on it.....

If so, you may download the update firmware (offline version). Transfer the file on your usb thumb drive and connect to your tv to install the offline version update. But the easiest way to update the firmware is thru online update.

Is it Linux based? When will it compete with Android, Linux, Apple or Raspberry? Why has it even been given release candidacy?

Sorry, but it really is rubbish. The tv is fine but it certainly is not "smart" while in its current state dont want to have to run extra hardware through the hdmi sockets to achieve a worthwhile interactive online experience.
