      Hi, sorry for bad English.
Device: Sony Ericsson W705, Opera Mini 8/Next (java).

I've changed the fonts on this phone from stock Universal-Reg.llt (Bold,Italic,Bold-Italic) to Roboto Condensed (with Cyrillic Support) (ttf, Regular/Bold/Italic/BoldItalic).
Mail.Ru Agent works perfectly with the new more readable font, but any current version of Opera Mini on launch tries go gather font information. I let in run for 12-13 hrs. but still no progress - 0%.
I don't want the old fonts back. Is there a way to fix Opera Mini?

      fontengine.xml - stock.
      Modified only the font.xml (/tpa/preset/system/fonts)

Unfortunately your client needs to provide server with its fonts to let server compose pages for itself. So this if kind of hard dependency.

The new font might have much more code points covered that is why your device is struggling. Even taking that into account it's weird its stuck on 0%.

Just downloaded another font (sense-5 for DB3350 mega-pack). Inside that is a .ttf, but it has another icon in Windows.
The font.xml config links Bold, Italic and Bold-Italic to the same one file. Installed it in /tpa/preset/system/fonts and it worked. Opera Mini works, all other java apps too.

So as you said my font had covered much more code points (made a comparison via FontLab Studio) that is why my device was struggling.
