<![CDATA[Opera 20 - Where did useful features go?]]>I installed Opera 20 and the first thing i noticed is that many useful features are missing:

  • Opening new tab on middle click

  • Opening new private tab from right click menu

  • Missing "recently closed pages" from top right corner

  • Missing bottom tab with zoom slider

  • Missing customization options for speed dial (size, number of rows, removal of [+] button ...)

Why remove them?
Maybe I'm missing something and if I do - please tell.

one feature: warning before "closing multiple tabs without notification" is no where present!

Excellent... Team Opera is trying to copycat Chrome!!! So no difference! Then Why use Opera??!

Firefox is trillion times better... at-least till they to don't do the same.

Yes it requires some improvements but as for me I am able to access all my favourite websites such as greenengage and ihgmerlin with much ease. Yet to try other applications such as saba.

No, it's not. Chrome doesn't have any of these features either, and on the other side the new Opera already has a lot of nifty differentials.

Works for me.

Opening new private tab from right click menu
There can only be private windows now, but it's there in the right-click.

Missing "recently closed pages" from top right corner
Now it's in the Opera menu -> Recently closed.

Missing bottom tab with zoom slider
Zoom control is also in the main menu.

Why remove them?
Maybe I'm missing something and if I do - please tell.
While you were out, Opera's UI has been rebuilt from scratch so it could now be Chromium-based. 🙂

Essentially, the new Opera is a completely different browser with the same logo. Slowly, slowly the useful features are being retrofitted to it, but a lot of the great things from 12.16 are dead and buried.

Middle-click on a link will open it in a background tab: shift middle-click in a foreground tab.

Ctrl Shift T will reopen the last closed tab (instead of Ctrl Z).

I really miss the convenient "zoom slider" at the bottom of the browser (that you mentioned). Much of the time I set my keyboard aside and am just using a mouse. Now to zoom I have to drag the old keyboard out, cmd +, cmd -. Ugh, I guess somebody decided NOT IMPORTANT! Good bye convenient item!
