<![CDATA[Opera 33 - Now featuring video optimization and brand new icons]]>Hey, folks!

We are happy to announce the release of Opera 33. This version features the new Opera brand for all icons. We've made some changes to how we handle videos, too. Check it out and let us know what you think.

For those of you that like getting your content faster, we've added support for optimizing video so you see less buffering and save on data. The video controls have also been revamped with a new, modern look.

The pull-to-refresh feature that was introduced in the previous version has now made its way to the Discover feature.

This release includes the following changes:

  • New icons
  • Video optimization
  • Updated video controls
  • Pull-to-refresh the Discover feature
  • A Chromium upgrade to version 46
  • Various UI, stability and usability improvements

The update has been pushed to Google Play and should be available very soon. Please download Opera 33 for Android and leave us your feedback. We hope you like it!

The password bug still exists in the latest build (on all sites) when entering the text using a 'mobile style' keypad (ABC, DEF etc) the only way to enter a password is to turn the phone to landscape and use the QWERTY keyboard, all other types of input work correctly with the mobile keypad.

Note: This bug does NOT exist in 34 beta, so migrating to that unless I find something horrendous 🙂

1 The browser identifies as norwegian and when I visit webs as banggood.com all the things are in norwergian crowns.
2. Youtube doesn't functions in desktop mode. Only functions in mobile mode.

Just installed the new update. I can't check if the Video Playback Notification Interruption issue has been solved, but the keyboard issue is NOT solved. It is such a big issue I can't believe it hasn't been a priority. Every few Opera updates you get this keyboard issue, and I don't know why it keeps coming back.
Using Google Keyboard
Type in a word. Press space. Press back. Type another letter. The word disappears.
It's a huge, huge, huge, huge bug. Why does it still exist?

The keyboard issue that I had before seems to have gone. Everything seems to be working ok here. I have a backup of my old version just in case it suddenly starts again. I'm using SwiftKey as my keyboard although I have had the same keyboard issue before Yesterday's update while using the SwiftKey keyboard. The only issue I get now that I've been having for the last 3 or 4 months is that when I have finished typing a word and I press space sometimes the word gets duplicated but this only happens in Opera so I know it's not a problem with SwiftKey. I thought that bug had been fixed?

Yes thats is strange and it start yesterday.

What device are you using?
Lg gpad 8.0 v490 android 4.4.2

When you say "start and stop", do you mean that the video actually starts up but immediately stops?
Yes. on 00:00 the icon is changing (pause) on a second, and back to play icon again.

I check latest beta after update from gp and it is the same error.

@samuraj-jones could you give an example on a video that doesn't work? I tried youtube and another site and it worked fine for me.
Do you have turbo and video compression enabled?

on all sites, yt, sites with news, 4chan, online films etc.
i dont use turbo mode. i check opera beta and it dont work.
player start to download video but when i want to play it i cant. it start and stop. do you need install id?

The Bookmarks API was removed in Android M, and since we build Opera for Android with the latest SDK we had to unfortunately stop supporting this feature. Mini still builds with a lower SDK version so there you don't get the problem.

What you could perhaps do is sync the bookmarks in Mini so you get access to them in OfA.

To enable compression for videos you need to go to settings -> Data savings -> Enable "Video compression".
