Did I miss a setting? I can use Zoom at 120%, but that setting disappears with a new window.</p>

I should have mentioned that this is a new installation of 12.17 with a new user (me). I will investigate the zoom default, as that sounds like a solution. <p dir="auto">The real Opera had an extraordinarily customizability.<br />
Use custom (edited) keyboard shortcut or/and mouse gestures (or even toolbar button) to create the new window (or tab) with a preferable zoom scale. For an example:</p>
<p dir="auto"><strong>New page &amp; Zoom to, 130</strong>  - open new tab with 130%<br />
<strong>Open link in new page &amp; Zoom to, 150</strong> - open link in new page with 150% (you need to edit Menu setup file)</p>
