<![CDATA[Opera Mini 9.0 for Windows Phone]]>Hello all!

I am glad to announce that there is a new Opera Mini for Windows Phone available. It was a really hot summer, and we had an exceptional heat wave here in Poland, but we managed to cook something special for your phones. A whopping number of 116 issues were fixed!

Here is what is new:

  • Landscape support
  • Keyboard extensions with QR reader, search engine chooser and address field slider
  • Slight UI improvements
  • New background wallpapers
  • Tweaks for Japanese fonts
  • Various stability and performance fixes
  • New icons for app list and live tiles

The update is now live on Microsoft Store, please head to your Market App and give it a try. As always, please post your comments here or report an issue through settings in your Opera Mini menu.

Since Opera Mini for Windows Phone has stopped its development the app has been retired from the Store, just users with Opera Mini installed before could access it.

I have access but I don't have my Lumia jailbroken and don't know if even with jailbrake it's possible to export it to be installed in another device...

Writing those lines...
Now I remember that I had installed a Xap file (I think) from XDA Developers, if you search and find the Opera Mini Xap file enabling Developer tools into your Lumia 630 maybe that way you could install it.

At the other hand, try asking in XDA Developers, you'll find a better answer on how to install it if possible.

microsoft closed down the phone production, selling it's "nokia" brand to foxconn.
so yeah, you could say win fon is now quite dead, it just doesn't smell funny yet...

If finally Windows Phone will port Astoria or something to use Android Apps, problem fixed, (I read around 1 or 2 years ago they stopped the development, but I don't know right now).

On the other hand, Windows Su***, both Windows Phone and Windows 10, Windows makeup with a *nix port (Settings) and in their own way, that is crap ...

Maybe because of this it's not worth the Opera efforts for Windows Phone.

But if that is the case, then Windows phones are crippled.

It seems that Windows Mobile is not that popular to worth developing for it.

Maybe we could write a petition or something like that, do ask Opera to extend their support for Windows Phone/Mobile?

I guess it would be better to try to make it more profitable.

Right now it works well, but Opera Mini depends of their services, and it is only a matter of time when they will shut them down.

I guess Mini will continue to work for a while like the versions for non-smartphones.

I have tried a dozen other browsers right now, and they all are cr*ppy compared to Opera Mini. Opera mini displays pages really well. Not perfect, but well, and its data saving is awesome.

I have compared it to Monument browser, and with only few short visits is spend over 6MB, while Opera Mini spent me about 10MB since the beginning of the month if I'm not mistaken. UC browser is no good for me either.

As I have just read at this article, Opera Mini cannot be found on the store, and if one tries to send a link to Opera Mini on their mobile phone, they cannot download the browser. Also, they say that Opera Mini for Windows Phone has been removed from the Opera Start page.

Opera Team, please, leave the browser for us to use it as it is. Microsoft Edge doesn't have any data saving features. There are some third party browsers which are Edge based, but they don't have any data saving. There is only UC browser which have data saving, but even this one doesn't display the pages correctly, while Opera Mini does it well.

Can anybody say anything about this matter, I haven't heard any word about this from Opera Team? Please, don't leave Windows Phone users behind, this is the only browser which we can use while we are outdoors. Removing this up for Windows Phone 8.1 and Windows 10 mobile users would be almost the same as Opera Mini being removed from the Store for Nokia's S40 phones.

Also, if I should have written this elsewhere, please, let me know.

I think it is a really unfortunate that it was disconnected.
I rely on Opera since after my upgrade to WP10, Edge does not work on my mobile data as it has a extremely strict time out.
I really hope someone could link me an appx version that I and many other affected users could use.

After clicking on any download link, the message "download failed" immediately pops up. This happens with every type of files, even normal jpgs. And no, uninstalling and reinstalling doesn't solve it. I'm on the latest update of W10M. I know there's a very little chance anyone at Opera still cares about the W10M app but what do we have to lose!

Any file? You're sure about that? Try to reinstall Mini.

Also is there a fix yet I was trying to set duckdukgo as default search engine in Opera Mini but it stayed locked as Google on which I hate.
