  • Mine works fine.

    Probably is not an integrated budget one. 🙂 GMAs and Express Chipsets make problems.

    @luucasalves, first check if hardware acceleration has been enabled in settings, because the screenshot says it has been disabled. You may need to unlock the advanced settings first if you haven't already done it. Then check everything that may be disabled in opera:flags. Secondly, don't test Opera's MP4 support with this Twitter video only. Check this:
    http://www.quirksmode.org/html5/tests/video.html
    If Opera plays all three videos correctly (video and audio), then it's fine. For the H.264/MP4 Opera relies on the system for decoding. For WebM and Ogg/Theora Opera has native support. I haven't come across any other videos with the black screen issue on the web, except those on Twitter posted here. They are MP4. I already shared my suspicions what the cause may be - the msmpeg2vdec.dll. It's just a guess, though. The audio is working, because another DLL is used for decoding the audio streams (usually AAC) within the MP4 - msmpeg2adec.dll and it is related to the GPU process if not the GPU itself.
    SwiftShader has nothing to do with video playing. Opera can't use it properly. It's for the WebGL, which I'm still unable to use with my GPU (and probably you won't be).

    @babogredac, try the same solution. Same error, although it's an AMD GPU.

  • i dont know why play on chrome and firefox ((((((((((((((((((((((
    i love opera

    They don't rely on gpu and system codecs to play thoise videos afaik.

  • @sfearmentor still only sound on H.264/MP4 :((( all play good

    http://puu.sh/ladsO/6b0424a8e4.jpg

    i try to set with a tweek tools other msmpeg2adec.dll but dont work too

  • i try to set with a tweek tools other msmpeg2adec.dll

    msmpeg2Adec.dll is for the audio in MP4.
    msmpeg2Vdec.dll is for the video in MP4. - This is causing trouble.

    i tried delete the msmpeg2vdec.dll

    I hope you haven't deleted it back then. Check if it is named properly.

    You will probably need a new graphic card.

  • or new browser

  • or new browser

    yeah 😕

  • Hi @luucasalves, go to opera:flags#disable-accelerated-video-decode, and change the option to "Enabled", restart the Opera, and see if this helps 😉

  • @l33t4opera donst work, ty anyway

  • Hello, we are reaching 2016 and Opera can't play Twitter videos. What a shame.

  • Hello, we are reaching 2016 and Opera can't play Twitter videos. What a shame.

    Videos on Twitter work fine here.

    What is your OS and version of Opera?

  • Hello there!

    I would like to try retrieve this thread 'cause I am possessing the same issue which is described here. When I want to play twitter/vine video there's just black screen with video controls (play/pause, volume) and I can hear the audio. There is NOT shown the error message "This browser does not support video play back."

    Opera Version: 34.0.2036.47 Stable | OS: Windows Microsoft Windows 7 Enterprise Edition Service Pack 1 (build 7601), 64-bit | opera:gpu https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/11209787/opera-gpu-info.pdf | Graphics card: Intel®HDGraphics4400 | Graphics Driver Version: 10.18.14.4280 (lastest available for my laptop; updated today) | More: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/11209787/siu-report-0338-8459.htm

    What I've already tried:

    • enabling/disabling hardware acceleration (in Opera setting and also on opera:flags), restarting Opera;
    • deleting cache;
    • disabling extensions;
    • reinstalling Opera;
    • installing another codecs (ffdshow);
    • installing the Codec Tweak Tool for setting up ffdshow as the primary codecs;
    • unninstalling codecs and another applications which maybe have their own codecs.
      But without any effect.

    I do not have permissions to manipulate with files in Windows/WoW64 or system32 folders. The twitter/vine videos work fine in another browsers (FF, Chrome, IE).

    Any suggestions please? I am stuck on this. Thanks.

  • Same here, getting the "This browser does not support video playback." error on twitter videos with the latest Opera 36.

    Version: 36.0.2130.32 - Opera is up to date
    Update stream: Stable
    System: Windows 10 64-bit (WoW64)

  • @xnajja @spyk
    In Opera beta, this is fixed (at least on my side it behaves fine)
    when I disable HWA, twitter and FB videos/gifs plays fine...no black/blank videos, screens etc)

  • Could someone solve the problem?

  • I have the same issue as well, getting the "This browser does not support video playback." error on twitter videos. Posted on another thread before discovering this one so apologies for that. I'm using Opera 36 stable, on Windows Vista, videos run OK in Yandex browser and Flashpeak Slimjet, but not Opera. Tried disabling hardware acceleration didn't make any difference.

  • The problem is solved with the latest update (37.0.2178.43).

  • Thanks for that information mickysc, unfortunately for now I'm stuck on 36 for this pc as I am using Vista. But that maybe explains why I don't have the same problem with Opera on my Win 10 laptop.
