<![CDATA[Installation of Opera 10.63 on windows nt]]>I am trying to install Opera 10.63 on an old windows nt computer and when I start to install it, I get a message that Opera is running and I need to shut it down to do the installation. I don't have Opera installed anywhere on the computer and thus I can't shut it down. Can anyone help resolve this issue?

The most sure fire solution is as follows: Try the "classic" Wise installer instead.

Thanks, I'll try installing in safe mode and see what happens.

I got to thinking that windows nt4 didn't have the safe mode. I think that started later in windows xp or sometime after nt4. Anyway, I couldn't find it anywhere.

I ended it and the opera setup wizard ended. So I guess it didn't show anything unusual.

When you're having that error, check the TM for any running processes resembling opera.exe.

Such an old system might be different, but of a newer one, I'd say it could be remnants and/or [previous] failed (or incorrect) install.
Or - just guessing - some malware disguising itself as Opera or opera.exe.
Does your system have the task manager?
