Description

Ability to resize the Extension Bar and reorder Icons

2. What it does

When pointing the mouse at the left edge of the Extension Bar, Cursor changes and lets the user resize it to the desired amount of visible Extension (Icons). In addition a drop-down icon appears on the right side to select hidden Icons.

Each Extension Icon can be reordered per drag & drop.

Here is a Screenshot showing the scenario (Google Chrome, which natively supports both features):

3. Why it is useful

Since the amount of visible Extension icons decreases with lower Screen Resolution/Width (18 items with 1920 pixels), items that exceed this amount are automatically hidden, thus these Extensions cannot be used anymore.
Adding support for resize and drag & drop allows users to:

use more Extensions than their screen width currently allows them to

hide Extensions they don't use very frequently, but often enough to have them enabled

reorder the Extension Icons as they wish (similar Extensions side by side, order from most used on the one side to less used on the other, or any other order one may have in mind)

4. Conclusion

Currently the amount of usable Extensions is limited by screen width (there is no way to use an Extension, if the icon is not visible

Icons are ordered by date/time they were added

Icon order is preserved even if any Extension was disabled and enabled again

Some words for the developers:

Please think about implementing these crucial features or at least some other kind of temporary workaround for using more Extensions

Please add this feature which is highly sought-after in browsers like Firefox, which has a seperate menu features for dragging & dropping extension icons in toolbar. This is a must-have feature IMO. Please add this in a new update as I'am a die-hard Opera fan & grown to use it so far as to say that it is the only browser I cannot live without —with features like built-in Adblock + VPN + Opera Turbo (compression) —this new tip (re-ordering extensions) would be indispensable !!!

I'm fairly confident that one of the reasons that people looking for an alternative to Chrome aren't switching to Opera more often is due to this lack of customizability.

Also I agree about hiding the icon without disabling it.Stylish icon is annoying me as many other extensions.

Yeah, actually I miss the resize-feature way more than custom order. Right now I have to pick a selection of my favourite 18 Extensions, leaving the others unusable.

I really need more Extension icons, since I do a lot of stuff in the browser.

Question:
Is there anything about it I can do on my own?
e.g.: manipulate any kind of settings files (JSON, SQL, INI, PAK, BIN, DAT, XML, ...)

Picture this: You're a mechanic, working on a car, you got three tools in your pocket and each time you need another tool, you have to go to your locker, put as many tools back as you wish to exchange and than go all the way back to the garage.

Wouldn't that be frustrating?
