<![CDATA[Give Us A way to lock in and stabilize log-in windows that keep flashing and blinking.]]>I found Opera sometimes blocks me being able to log in when it won't let the log in window load fully and it keeps flashing or blinking and I'm sure it's frustrating to other users when it happens to them.

I do make updates by installing a new version on Firefox and it allows me to roll back if the new version is still bugged

You can do it in Opera also but it may not be a very easy thing.

most of us know how to update manually and would rather not have automatic updates forced on us when we're not ready to update and might be in the middle of something else.

Unfortunatelly time and experience shows me that lots of people tend to forget that they are using an old version of a software and will probably start complaing, at some point, about issues that were already fixed months or maybe years ago.

Regarding the new version warning i can agree that it may be less invasive.

I understand you like some things that Firefox does. Thats fine. Thats not how we're going to do things here and I personally would drop Opera in a second if it started to before more like Firefox. If you like Firefox better than use Firefox.

There are hundreds of posts on this forum already that detail how to disable Opera's automatic update. Either do what they suggest or don't, but don't come here to cry about it. This isn't the suggestion forum and we don't want to hear it. You've been told that twice now. So you are being borderline rude about it.

I turned automatic updates off for Firefox because installing a new version is like updating though it's a lot safer and still leaves the older version there in case you have to roll back temporarily until bugs in an updated version are fixed.I'd rather see options to update manually or automatically and see new updates released to develpoers to test before being released to the general users after a few got released with major bugs and glitches like the bookmarks in the menu not working and other issues.

This sounds like something got glitched out in recent Opera updates because they get released untested to the casual user

Opera is tested a lot. However, there are lots of different users with different hardware, OSs, settings and so on. There are also millions of internet pages and it's kinda impossible for Opera or any other browser maker to test all scenarios before releasing a new version/build.

In the case of http://nraas.wikispaces.com/, as i said, the problem didn't happen when i changed the user agent (by using an extension)and this usually means that the problem is with the page itself and not with Opera.

Well, it seems that even Windows is going into (forced) automatic updates.

I may be wrong of course but i think that automatic updates will be the default behavior for (almost) all softwares in a few years.
Software makes don't want people using old versions because it will cost them resources.
