<![CDATA[no notification about myopera shutdown]]>I believe I never received an email notification regarding the shutdown of myopera. Despite some folks belief that one notification is enough, surely something as drastic as this deserved a, say, once a month for, say, 3 months prior to shutdown.

At this point I can only begin to imagine the nightmare awaiting me regarding trying to regain access to services I use that the login was my myopera email.

Dear Opera - believe me, if I have an awful foul taste in my mouth from this, there are many others, and, ummm, word gets around. I used to tout your product loudly and proudly to all my associates. The OPPOSITE will now be the case.

We still had an e-mail address known to the company to use it for at least 1 single e-mail! (At least we check it often! - and we do!)
That would have been enough probably... but it didn't happen.

They really announced it almost everywhere: there was a banner on each and every MyOpera-website, there were blog posts on each and every official Opera blog and they sent email to your contact addresses. If you didn't keep them up to date, it's your fault not Opera's.
I agree, that they also should have sent an email to the myopera-address, but that's the only mistake they made.
If you had actively used MyOpera in the couple of months, you would have noticed!

And I can also not recall a single eMail notification. Possibly not Opera's fault (outdated eMail address, I can't remember), but it still sucks balls!

I'm very sorry, unless someone has saved it for you, there's no way you can find it back. Well maybe you can find parts of your blog by using this site http://archive.org/web/ and typing the address of your blog in it. I used the email account for some storage, but didn't routinely use the other programs. One should not have to obsessively check up on an account in random places, just in case.....!

I received an email months ago informing me of the eventual shutdown of MyOpera on Mar.1st. There was a link to an article by one of the Opera Team informing us that mail, photo albums, blogs and forums would be shut down. Included with that piece (back in October) were a number of suggestions for mail clients, how to export one's blogs and one's photo albums. By my count that was five months that this message was posted with a sticky above the News Blog informing us of this. How much more do you need?
