I have been using Opera for years and will not change to another browser.
The problem I have is I, cannot see how to make the speed dial change to 6 in a row, on the older version there was a drop down to facilitate this, but I cannot find such a function in Version 17.
I know I am an old duffer, but can someone tell me how to alter the number of speed dials in a row before I become senile.

There is in Opera 19, but it's well hidden. Power User Mode

I agree — but then a lot of users who are accustomed to using Google as their home page expect to see it there. As you say, it makes no sense for anyone who is used to the address bar search. I have a Wikipedia search field on my speed dial in Opera 11.64, but I rarely use it. If I needed the space I would remove it, but I don't — 30 speed dials still leaves room for the search field.

Why would somebody need additional search window if it's possible to search from the address line? It's wasting space for another line of speed dial elements...

How come? I have 24 and they all fit. You can zoom out in the speed dial to fit up to five columns, though wide screen monitors could clearly use up to 10 columns or more.

Edit: Opera 19 now allows up to 7 columns in speed dial.

I didn't think of using zoom. That helps. Thanks.

As Opera has always been my preferred browser I have gone back to 12.16, till they sort out the problems.

They need to fix that.

In Opera 18 I have 9 speed dial icons and they take more than the screen page. Whereas in Firefox, where I can adjust, I have 16 icons (4x4) all fitting on my screen page. That's been brought up a few times on the developers blogs.
