You can set a start page or /pages/ which should be loaded when you start it, but in vanilla mode (without extensions) that's all they're good for.

In a sense you can say that the speed dial screen (control-shift-s) is the real "home page" in Opera. And that brings us to l33t's suggestion 🙂
