Recently, it will take my PC out of commission for long periods of time, does anyone else have this issue? Is there a solution?

In that Opera, set up all your IMAP accounts and use that Opera for a bit. Also export your contacts from your original Opera into this test Opera. If things work fine there, you can replace your original Opera's "mail" folder, contacts.adr and wand.dat with the ones in the test Opera (back up the originals first). You'll just have to recreate your labels.

If the test Opera does it too, make sure you have "check for new messages every..." between 9 and 31 minutes so you're not checking too much (where a server like Gmail's will complain) and where IDLE doesn't time out.

You can also turn on logging and see what the log says and what errors (if any) it shows. Also, if you see QRESYNC in there anywhere, you can close down Opera and edit incomingN.txt in the "mail" folder where N is the number for the account as seen in accounts.ini. There you disable qresysnc support, which might help.

Might want to check to see if your anti-virus email scanner is not interfering.

Besides that, it could be something with the IMAP server you're using or how many messages you have or your net connection or how slow your hard drive / computer is. Or, it could be certain messages that Opera is having a problem with. The log will often reveal where Opera gets stuck at.
