Right now, the only workaround is to manually mute the background music every single time before minimizing, or completely close the browser.

Proposed Solution: It would be a massive quality-of-life upgrade if developers added a toggle in the Mod settings called "Automatically mute mod audio when browser is minimized." This would keep the immersive experience intact when active, without disrupting our workflow when we step away. What do you guys think?

Okay, kind of update on that issue.

I just tried three other browsers on my Android phone: Chrome, Firefox, Startpage. All of them have removed the drop-down list for input fields.

Is this a global conspiracy by browser programmers to drive all users nuts? 😉
Or is this an idiotic requirement from Google, imposed via the operating system itself? 😞

I am one of the many users who have been left in the dust following the many impressive UI updates done to Opera GX. For whatever reason unbeknownst to me, my SSD laptop cannot handle the newer UI. I have tried it on a completely new account on my laptop and for some reason it runs much smoother there, but my current one which actually is the one I use for some reason has a complete inability to be used at all. I don’t know why, I have continued for months to not know why, and my one workaround to continue using what has been the best browser for myself recently became fully obsolete following the need for a security update. For reference, the only version I could reliably use up until a few days ago was 114.0.5282.202. All other versions past this point are actually impossible for me to use on my main account on my computer.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled Opera GX countless times trying to figure out what’s wrong, only to discover that apparently the newer Opera GX is so... I don’t even know what quality it could be that it can no longer run on my computer. My computer’s specs aren’t particularly impressive, I’ll admit that much. It’s refurbished, and I’ve had it in my possession for multiple years. I do not have the income that would give me the possibility to just buy a new computer every time a browser decides my computer is just too ancient to continue to support.

Being completely honest, I do not think it is insane to not want your main browser to become completely and utterly unusable with no warning after a few years of loyal usage. The influx of angry Opera GX reddit topics is solid proof of that. Everyone who had difficulties with this browser either got things to where they’d like them to be by redownloading older versions of the browser from the ftp, or abandoned Opera altogether. Obviously I don’t think you guys WANT your browser to be abandoned, and for people to be angry at you.

So, I’ve come here with a suggestion and a proposal. I don’t know the resources that would go into this, and frankly I doubt anyone would take what I have to suggest seriously, but I hope I’ve helped build a substantial case thus far.

I sincerely believe - with all of my heart - that the people would be very happy if Opera worked on something that makes versions like 114.0.5282.202 accessible and viable to use. I believe that this hypothetical version of the browser should be called “Opera GX Lite”, and be advertised for lower-end systems. Because gamers don’t always have the money to buy the latest gaming computer. I am still a gamer even on my rickety old laptop. I play multiple games every week, potentially even most days of the week. I play RPGMaker games and TYPE LUMINA and Little Kitty Big City and Peak and even Hundred Line. I think you’d have a lot to gain from considering the little guy too, and I do mean that.

While not a browser, Peak recently made itself backwards compatible for a previous version of DirectX, and it was well received because it meant more people could play their game. I think this principal also applies to browsers. I think that if you gave this idea a chance, more people would be using Opera GX happily without having to worry about being put into a position where they have to scramble to find a suitable replacement. But let’s be completely frank here: Nobody else has thought of adding the ability to force dark mode natively on their browser yet, and they all honestly feel like they’re years behind because of it.

Opera should stop hiding the war. We (the users) want to see it.

Opera silently blocks trackers, and cookies and while that’s good, we (the users) can't verify if it works because Opera does so silently. The browser protects you in the shadows. That’s not enough. I want visibility, insights and evidence.

Opera should show me which sites try to fingerprint? Who’s pinging third-party servers? Which scripts are trying to detect my device configuration, canvas ID, audio stack? Who’s building a shadow profile off my font list and screen resolution?

Opera should not just block, rather, it should expose.

Opera should give us (the users) a per-site privacy dashboard. Every time a tracker is blocked, I want to know when it was blocked and have a knowledge of it being blocked. A notification, an alert, or a log should show up when creepy things happen behind the scenes when a site is visited. Opera should let me drill into the details. It should tell me who tried the creepy behaviour, what method did the user or organisation use to try the creepy act, and when did who-knows-who try the creepy act?

Right now, privacy on Opera is a black box. That creates trust for some, but limits control for the rest of us. Power users don’t want passive protection. We want a transparent firewall, a window into the fight.

Opera should let us (the users) whitelist specific scripts, let us (the users) see attempted tracking events, not just the ones you caught. Name the culprits (the user (s) or organisation (s)) responsible for it.

Opera already has a browser AI. It should feed the data into it. Let the AI summarize tracking attempts, score privacy aggression per site, detect emerging fingerprinting techniques — and let it speak to us (the users).

Data visibility is privacy’s second half. Without it, I’m blind, even when I’m protected.

Opera can lead the industry here. Brave already does this, but Chrome doesn't. Firefox makes it obscure (uncertain). Opera should make privacy visual, interactive, and actionable. It should let users feel the friction. It should let us see the claws behind the glass.

It should give us insight, not just insulation.

Benefits of this feature:

• It empowers users with real-time awareness of tracking attempts.

• It builds trust by showing what Opera is actually doing under the hood.

• It encourages transparency and user education on digital privacy threats.

• It appeals to power users and privacy enthusiasts who demand granular control.

• This differentiates Opera from some other competitors with a unique, AI-powered privacy visualization layer.

This isn't how modern browsing should work. Subdomains are separate entities with different UI requirements. Treating them as one service, just because they have the same domain name, ignores how the web actually functions.

Opera needs a smarter layout control system.

Here are my suggestions/what we (the users) need:

• A toggle that can be used to switch between mobile view and desktop view per site and not per domain.
  For example, mail.example.com is not news.example.com.

• Persistent layout memory: Let users lock a site in desktop or mobile mode until they say otherwise.

• Temporal overrides: Sometimes you want desktop view just this once. Opera doesn't have to save it unless the user asks.

• A layout manager UI: A list of saved layout preferences, will help we (the users) to view and edit which sites are locked in which mode.

This upgrade is just about users' control. The Opera Team should give we (the users) the freedom to tailor our browsing experience site-by-site, not be stuck with clunky domain-level assumptions.

Opera’s always been the browser that dares to do things differently. This is another time to push that boundary again.

I tend to group tabs mostly by site/domain, like all my github tabs, all my AWS tabs, Youtube tabs, etc. and my idea is to have a configuration option (per user profile) to create a list of islands that are based on site/URL patterns. For example:

Then, whenever a URL matches any of the patterns, whether I navigate to it manually, from a bookmark, with ctrl-click, etc. it would automatically be added to the matching Island! And this would be a feature somewhere in settings that you can turn on/off...

Now that would be sweet!

From the other side, with relatively recent update with animated wallpapers for "Speed dial" feed, Opera GX itself can become a good place for relaxation if it will be possible to hide all UI elements on this page until any next action, e.g. mouse click on any part of Opera GX's window. (Fading animation for icons appearing/disappearing would be appreciated). Function should be available for "Speed dial" only unless improved and made as a "special feature".

All of this will improve overall quality of App usage and it's lifetime on user's PC, as well as application usage time. Especially now, when most peoples doesn't keeping up with world speed - taking a breather without living browser at all will be advantageous option to provide.

And it also will be just neat and good to have. Would be appreciated.
