When you no longer need an app, messenger or the media player or even flow it just stays in the background using resources. We should have an option to close the apps we don't want to have in the background so we can free some ram as this browser is advertised as for gamers. Edge example about quitting an app on their side bar.

Adding Snapchat to the sidebar like Instagram would definitely be a useful enhancement. It would allow for quicker access and better multitasking for those who rely on Snapchat for communication and content sharing throughout the day.

Snapchat plays a big role in real-time interactions, and having it easily accessible could make the user experience much more seamless. Since other social platforms are already integrated, it makes sense for Snapchat to be part of the lineup too.

While we wait for this feature to hopefully be considered, if you're using Snapchat and facing any camera or refresh issues, you can check out official troubleshooting steps here: https://help.snapchat.com/hc/en-us/articles/7012355599380-Troubleshooting-Tips-for-Snapchat-Camera-Issues. Keeping the app running smoothly will ensure you’re ready once better sidebar support is available.

However, using Opera on my newer home computer, while Chrome on my older institution crate, and disliking Chrome's version of "side bar" I installed Opera on it and tried to sync, to no avail. But I still had my ca 200 links in my home Opera. looking at ways to copy to the institution one.

My bad, in an effort to "force" a sync, I (which I done multiple times since last autumn), when starting up Opera, all my links was gone, all side bar panels wiped clean. Anyway to save the situation?

And, Opera, why not having a way to export side panels separatly or to mass import them as bookmarks? Side panels is supersmart, but feels halfway done from backup perspective.

The thing is, I don't want to permanently remove it in the settings, it's very useful. So I came up with an idea; what about hovering on the left will prompt it to come out, and if you want to pin it so it stays active, there could be a button at the bottom of the sidebar for that. quick solution depending on what you're currently doing. keeping it active during more text heavy stuff, and being able to have it on mouse-hover when you're in a stream. It would still be available to use if you get a notification on discord or messenger, etc. It would personally feel more intuitive rather than searching trough the settings for a disable sidebar, then re-enable sidebar 10 minutes later, just to not have it take valuable space.
