<![CDATA[Topics tagged with private window]]>https://forums.opera.com/tags/private windowRSS for NodeTue, 10 Mar 2026 10:33:02 GMTInvalid Date60<![CDATA[Opera GX not starting in private mode]]>Hi, I am using Opera GX [LVL 5 (core: 109.0.5097.108)] on Windows 10 and I have this issue, that every time I right click from task bar to open a private window, it won't load and freezes till i forced quit, but when I open Opera GX (regular window/card) first and create a new private window after that, it works without any problems.
I was able to locate, what at least I think is, the reason to it - mainly if I go to "Setting" -> "Advanced synchronization settings" and disable there the synchronization of the settings, I am able to initially start Opera GX in private mode without any problems.
Is there a known fix to it? Is there some corrupted setting, which cause Opera GX to fail to start in private mode?
Do I simply have to change one particular setting, which synchronization is creating this error?
I would like to keep my settings synchronization turned on... How can it be fixed ?

I personally use private browsing to look through online stores without leaving analytics on my accounts.
Tracking-services can not only screw with the recommendation but also adjust prices if you've been looking for a particular item for a few days.

This works quite well until I click a link from ebay or amazon for example, since it takes me straight to their respective app and logs the item in the account on said app.
Would it be possible to suppress forwarding links to other apps during private-browsing.
I don't know for certain, but I don't think that I am the only one doing this occasionally.

This address opens bookmarks in private mode:
chrome://startpage/bookmarks --private

Maybe someone knows the command, how to open bookmarks in a new tab?

I hope the developers will do something.
