Hi, the browser logs me out every time I restart my system. So every time I open the browser after turning on the PC I need to log in, and enable sync, and confirm my identity. Is there any way to solve this? I am on the desktop version of the Steam Deck. Thanks

@izyakantorovich Speed dials are avalable bur kept separate (in case speed dials from a personal device might not be appropriate or allowed on a work device). If you look into Bookmarks you'll see a section for "Other speed dials" which could be copied to yout current device's Speed dial folder.

I don't personally use sessions; I know the option exists but couldn't say for sure where to find tabs from other devices.

Currently whenever you open for example messenger in the side window (not pinned), then alt-tab or just click into a different app and then alt-tab back or click into the side window, the side window will close.

Generally, this would be probably a minor inconvenience to just reopen the side window, but I'm using an emoji picker. And whenever I open the emoji picker and select the emoji and Opera gets refocused, the messenger will close and I have to reopen it.

And for reference, I checked with the Windows version and apparently, this is not the case in Windows. There if you focus different window and then get back (by alt-tabbing or clicking into the side window), the side window stays open.

Steps to reproduce (on Linux):

open a side window (eg. Messenger, ChatGPT, WhatsApp, ...)
alt-tab to a different window (or click here)
alt-tab back to Opera (or click into the side window in Opera)
side window gets closed

Information about PC (I don't think it's relevant to the problem, but just in case):

OS: Manjaro x86_64
Kernel: 6.5.5
DE: KDE Plasma 5.27.8
WM: KWin (Wayland, but the problem is also in X11)
Opera version: 102.0.4880.70 stable installed from official repo (Extra) from Manjaro

Would it be possible to fix this minor bug?

This isn't life or death. Using wine for it is an option after all, although hardly optimal. I just love Opera GX and was wondering if I should expect a Linux version some time in the future.

I understand that this would be quite the task, but there's certainly demand for it. Just consider for a moment that there's a good chunk of users that are willing to run it under wine, despite the performance issues and crashes that may cause, over using another browser.

opera startup and resource utilization

Opera on startup takes more than 15 seconds and post UI rendering, the address bar freezes for another 30 seconds with CPU utilization at 100%. The output from pstree shows about 37 (sub)processes if that matters.

The environment details are as follows

Now opera starts nearly in 1 sec, however post UI rendering the address bar is still frozen for nearly 30 seconds.

I suspect there are some additional components or services being loaded within the UI service framework, which is causing this lag.

Since Opera uses some technology from Chrome, are there any options that can be passed via command-line to the module(s). I am perfectly fine if it disables bookmarks, video playing capabilities etc.

Would be grateful if the more experienced folks share what further optimizations / options are available that can address the 'UI freeze' issue. Any pointers ?
