After a small search, the error o7355 (yes, that is an O over there, not a zero) points to unsupported browser.
First, make sure you have chromium ffmpeg codecs installed, because netflix's streams are in h264, which opera does not support by default. For the why, check the post on my signature.
Second, make sure you have widevine installed, because netfix uses drm. I do not know how to fix that, I have tried in the past and failed, but there is a recent thread about someone who made it work.
Let's talk about latest and greatest in Opera world: experimental builds, beta and developer versions
New, quick update - Opera developer 63.0.3349.0 ;-)
The change log, and the announcement.
"This update includes fix for the crash, that might cause loosing a session. Please upgrade, and let us know if you still experience this issue."
- DNA-75726 Crash at opera::StartPagePreloadService::GetStartPage.
- DNA-78473 Opera Portable (USB) loses settings and extensions, after starting on other machines.
- DNA-78602 Build Chrome-branded ffmpeg in addition to Chromium-branded one.
- DNA-78765 Clear Image cache on Bookmark’s updates.
- DNA-78776 Opera crashes on restart clearing session.
- Removed switches: --ffmpeg-preload-mode (DNA-78778) and --enable-proprietary-media-types-playback (DNA-78797).
How can I disable Auto-Update?
In Opera's installation folder (Menu > Help > About Opera for the path), find the folder with the current build and rename the auto updater executable file inside it.
Type the following into a terminal:
defaults write com.operasoftware.Opera OPDisableAutoUpdate true
Posting about your problem
After have done the steps above and confirmed that the problem is most probably in Opera, it's time to post about it.
Start the topic with a title that briefly describe the problem so people will know about what this is about.
Don't try to explain all the problem in the title.
Use tags to make it easy for other users to find posts about similar issues. If posting about Opera Mail then add the 'Opera Mail' tag
In the post (body) you should include the following information:
Your OS (Linux, Mac, Windows)
Your version of Opera
If the problem is with a page, a link to it
A screen-shot of the problem if it's related to something not showing as should
A description of the problem, including as much as information as possible
Steps to (try to) reproduce the issue
Expected behavior and actual one
@leocg I also use folders. But I have my main Bookmark bar configured so all my most used Bookmarks are just one click away. I have all my browsers configured this way Opera is the only one I cant configure this way. Which means when I import my Bookmarks I have to completely redo them.
You can try this extension: https://github.com/Accudio/opera-new-tab-page/releases
I tried it with "Tab for a Cause" and it worked for me. I'm not sure about momentum though. Just try it.
PS: I tested it on version 60.0.3255.50747 of Opera GX.
@leocg The bug seems to have fixed itself, just tried it out by looking up a picture, right clicking and pressing "Save Image As" then click ok. It is still the default image. Will update again sometime in the future if it happens and I will try and focus on what steps I have took to reproduce it that time. @sgunhouse i appreciate the replies guys! Thanks.
Use a descriptive and relevant title for new threads. Try to use at least three words in the thread title.
Be clear and concise when describing the problem. Be specific and remember to include important details, such as the exact error message or address of the site you're having trouble with.
@sgunhouse said in Bookmark bar reappears even after disabling it repeatedly:
Aready you saving bookmarks to the bookmarks bar?
Sometimes I do, does that make the thing re-appear despite setting it to off?
@leocg Sadly, I agree with @stowawaylt and people on other forum posts about this topic. The dark color of the side bar distinguished excellent from the rest of the browser. That excellence is gone with the new look & feel. If there could be a wish list, I would also opt for restoring the 'old' look & feel of a light browser background with a dark side bar. Maybe as a third option to choose from in the browser next to light and dark mode. A mixed mode. Please please please
