VPN download: "interrupted: network error"

    Since yesterday (9/30/17) very much VPN download attempts abort after one or two MB with "interrupted: network error" message. It doesn't matter if I use Opera stable or Opera dev build, but it matters to which VPN location / IP I'm connected to. Some VPN locations / IPs still work, others don't. So it's most likely a VPN server-sided update causing the problem which has been rolled out to some VPN servers (but not to all yet). It's the very same issue like the "VPN download from SSL secured servers abort" problem, but now it happens to non SSL connections too.

      For example you can test it with the Ubuntu ISO image download:

      http://releases.ubuntu.com/17.04/ubuntu-17.04-desktop-amd64.iso

      Most (but not all) of your VPN servers abort the download after a few MB.

      185.137.18.70 = abort

      185.137.17.86 = abort

      185.76.10.163 = abort

      138.197.162.41 = abort

      45.55.27.151 = success

      185.102.219.116 = success

      128.199.224.68 = success

      and so on...

        Here, the same troubles...no connection, first only on 2-3 servers, later on alle servers in all countries :-( Time until interrupt: after approx. 8-10 seconds :confused:

          Believe the issue might be with the SurfEasy servers themselves?

          That's what I assume. I think the issue is server-sided and can only be fixed by Opera / SurfEasy.

            Opera VPN download "Interrupted:network error"

            I have been working on the same issue. I start the VPN download and get this error after 10 seconds or 400Kb. This error repeats after approximately the same time and data size if I press resume. I have been searching the internet have not been able to find a solution.

            Issues that could be relate 1) virus software blocking [though I can download same files without VPN on] 2) Change my internet service router so I'm not sure if there are some settings somewhere from previous router that could be affecting this, but again I can download without VPN.

            I have seen elsewhere that Opera is aware of this issue and is working on it, as an aside in another post in Opera forums. Believe the issue might be with the SurfEasy servers themselves?

              I am also experiencing this error.

              Latest Opera Browser v48.0.2685.39 (PGO)

              It's inconsistent

              A couple times it was fixed by turning off VPN

              I've also received an error of something like 'Insufficient Privileges' when trying to download a PDF

                Cannot sign in "Unexpected Network Error."

                I followed the one instruction to solve this (clear all browser since beginning) and it didn't work.

                I went to its Extension page to see if there was a problem. There I discovered something else, when you click on developer's website you are presented with:

                "This site can’t be reached The web page at https://www.surfeasy.com/ might be temporarily down or it may have moved permanently to a new web address."

                But if you try the URL in another browser, it works. I am a premium SurfEasy user so I was able to check that SurfEasy works on my phone. It does! So I was able to do my banking and finance stuff in security of VPN. But no thanks to Opera who since 1pm GMT decided to not work.

                The day before I couldn't download one 250MB file without interruptions. It was in private browser VPN. Yesterday afternoon and this morning, VPN itself died.

                  After having ticked VPN there are a number of websites that I can no longer use which leaves me with 2 choices. Untick or leave Opera because it is bloody annoying. I choose to leave Opera. I have no time for this.

                    A small update on VPN downloading: Still getting the network interrupt error when downloading, stops about every 400kbs. Was unable to download from CNET. I was able to download a small 10mb file by constantly clicking on the resume file, so downloads still go through. But the download thru VPN did stop every 400kbs approx.

                    And it does make you wonder about security and privacy when your using VPN to access websites.

                      I'm having the same issue as everyone else here so it seems. But in addition to the VPN not allowing me to download files; I don't seem to be able to visit sites unless the VPN is enabled. So I have to tick it on to navigate to where I want to go, and if I need to download or stream something, then I have to un-tick it...SO frustrating!
