new version - OUT OF MEMORY issue

Since the upgrade to 41 i can not use OPERA. it previously worked fine for over a year.

i tried to roll back to 40 but opera auto updates to 41 and then the problem continues.

getting OUT OF MEMORY errors and reload does no good

    have to close

i uninstalled and reinstalled 41 and that didnt work then i uninstalled and installed 40 but as i said within 10 minutes 41 updates and then the problems start over

what happened>???? this is really annoying I could NOT find any place to stop the auto update

there has to be a way to run the older version until this issue is resolved and why is it happening?

using WIn10 (completely updated and patched to the latest version).

    help!!!!

I'm having the same issue. Opera works really slow since version 41. Randomly getting Out of memory page or even plain crashes... Already bothered with it since a few weeks. Thinking of abandoning the browser, because it happens a lot...

I´m having same problems almost every day... I have 8GB RAM, it´s not possible to run out of memory. Opera, fix this please or I´ll be going back to Chrome.

I've never seen such issue here.

What version of Opera and Windows are you using? Do you use any antivirus, security suite, antimalware or any other program that keeps monitoring your computer activities?

          What about extensions?

Anything changes if you disable hardware acceleration?

Have you exactly monitored the free memory before Opera and then the memory used by all Opera processes?

              For my case :

Opera version : 42.0.2393.85 Windows 10 12 Gb of memory

              Only Avast antivirus.

Extensions SPeed Dial for Gmail Twitch now ADblock Plus Smart RSS

              Hardware acceleration is unticked

Still doest it even all extensions are off ...

I'm having exact same problem with version 42.0.2393.85 and I also had it with version 41, windows 10. I only have windows defender anti-virus and also have Hardware acceleration unchecked and extensions off.

Memory is fine until I start using Opera. Opera processes are hogging all the memory. Nothing changes when Hardware acceleration unchecked. This use to be my favorite browser but now I can't use it. When will this be fixed??

Using Opera how? Just opening Opera, without any page opened, causes the issue? Do you need to open some pages for it to happen? If so, which ones?

                  When will this be fixed??

To fix it they need to be able to reproduce it.

I can open opera no problem but on any website watching any video after a couple of minutes that's when it crashes and says Out of Memory.

Do you know if it's a Flash based video or a html5 one? Do you have a couple of examples where the problem happens?

it appears when im on twitch.tv.

I went to https://www.twitch.tv and nor with the stream on the home page nor with a randomly picked one I was able to reproduce the issue. It does uses a lot of memory but Opera never went 'out of memory'.

I'm on Windows 10 running on a I5-4590 with 8GB of RAM and a Intel HD4600 graphic card if that matters.

Today I was only able to watch 5 videos on EnganeMe.Tv and Opera said out of memory. I'm clearing the cache each time to see if it helps but no luck.

I've opened a stream in incognito mode and left it open while I was registering here. Here are three screenshots of my task manager. First picture taken right after I've opened a stream, second one about 5 minutes later and next one 10 or 15 minutes later. As I writing this post, it's already at 1 gigabyte.

Going to switch to other browser until this is fixed. Honestly I lost trust in Opera completely after this. Such a terrible bug released into production , don't they test these things anymore?

I am having the same issues. With 5 tabs open (mainly text sites/video sites) Opera sucks up 2-3 GB of RAM . This is insane. You are going to lose users.

http://engageme.tv -> outofmemory for me as well.

Me too using V42 on Windows 7. Started happening a couple of weeks ago and happens when I have multiple tabs open on youtube. Very disappointing and amazed that no-one has either addressed the issue or at least recognized it. Have had to switch back to firefox.

'That no-one else has reported'? There are about 10 people above with the same issue. I think there are other threads on here with similar issues as well. Is it not a coincidence that a number of people all of a sudden have the similar symptoms when previously everything was fine? Just because you can't reproduce it doesn't mean that there isn't a problem. I agree that makes it very hard to deal with, but please believe us.

Very disappointing and amazed that no-one has either addressed the issue or at least recognized it.
You would be amazed at the number of people that come here and have some weird issue that no one else has experienced or even seen anywhere else. It is very hard to track something down when you can't reproduce it.

The point is that if "most" users don't see a given problem, including the developers on their systems, it is very difficult for those others to track down the cause of a problem they aren't seeing - even if the problem sufferers number in the several hundred out of the million(s) or more total users. This isn't the same thing as denying a problem exists. There are a vast number of variables between different user systems, in terms of hardware, installed software, and customized user settings. Consequently, the more information supplied in a problem report about a user's OS (type and version), his video system (including drivers), his antimalware software, and some of his custom settings (especially graphics acceleration or not, open tab count, specific webpages or videos, etc), the greater the opportunity for helpers/developers to assist in tracking down possible problem causes - and, hence, to provide likely fixes.

FWIW, even using Vivaldi (another chromium-based) browser, on that site, one of its processes steadily increases memory consumption at the rate of roughly 35Kb/second, which is about 2.1 Mb/minute. Likewise, the memory consumption of Firefox 50's single process (a non-chromium browser) also steadily climbs at a roughly similar rate though with some up-and-down activity as it increases, which tends to make me suspect there's something in the Twitch site code/functionality itself involved in your situation.

                                                    'That no-one else has reported'?

"that no one else has experienced", what is very different.

Not all reported problems can be reproduced by everyone since many of them may be triggered by a specific hardware and/or software setting.

I've decided to test different livestreaming services and see what will happen. I've ran opera in private mode, opened one stream at a time and let it run for 5 minutes.

                                                        Here are my results. http://i.imgur.com/Gq5aplv.jpg

I stopped using Opera and switched to Vivaldi and I can assure you it's not Chromium as I have absolutely no "outofmemory" issues using Vivaldi so far (and used it for days now).

I have a 16GB DDR system , Windows 10 , SSD and opera showing outofmemory messages is absurd (btw, if you had a real 64bit version this error would have not appeared:) there is clearly a memory hole in the code introduced with the latest patches/versions. T

Anyway , it is definetely something related to opera last 2 versions (just compare the code and see what you added and do a proper smoke and regression testing this time) , frankly this is a job for QA (if there is something like that at Opera or devs/enduser is the QA?) but i think Developers should look into the code for this and see what sites are causing it , have a debugger running and also checking the process to understand this bug. A end-user cannot do nothing here but experience it.

                                                            My Opera configs :

If we are on the logic that only 10 experienced it and as such it's not important ...well there are other browsers.

For those facing the 'out of memory' issue: What is your OS? What is your graphics card? Any program running in background, like anti-virus, security suite, anti-malware, etc?

I'm using Opera 42.0.2393.94 Windows version 8.1 64 bit CPU Intel-i5 16GB Memory Graphics Card NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980 Ti

If I run Opera with the VPN it uses up memory and crashes. If I run it without the VPN it works fine.

Running Youtube and streaming video causes the memory leak to crash the browser much more quickly.

It is reproducible every time and using the Task Manager you can actually watch the memory usage ramp up till it crashes.

Main memory leak is located in VPN code, most probably in decryption buffers related code.

As video viewing lead to large transfer amounts you get your leak leading to OOM issue much faster.

Also happens with heavy images loaded sites.

Bug was introduced recently and especially bad became in latest 42 version.

and also have the same issue, I frequently use the VPN, too. My computer has - 8GB RAM + 2GB Nvidia video card My antivirus is - Avira Product version 15.0.24.146 06/12/2016.

I also use AdBlock Plus as Opera's adblocker doesn't have a feature to manually block advertisements/content by clicking on them and it usually misses some ads. Adblock Plus is the only extension I use.

It usually happens when I enter a site with a lot of images and video content. The "out of memory" error also happens if there are too many advertisements. I have been having this issue since the v41 release. Sometimes Opera crashes completely and then restarts by itself, too.

                                                                    kalpeshdsolanki

There was no problem at 42.0.2393.85 so delete the update and reverted to 42.0.2393.85 again. But today it is happening with 42.0.2393.85 too. VPN is always on, When I don't use VPN there is not a single incident of "Out of memory";maybe something to do with VPN.

By the way, is there anyway I can download older version of opera from safe place?
